I’d love to do a Guided Exploration of Redis, perhaps via one of these ideas that I’ve played around with in the past:
* RedRed – Redis-based transparent/atomic Ruby object persistence.
* Woodchuck – Ruby materialized map/reduce layer backed by Redis. Conceptually similar to CouchDB but with the map/reduce component decoupled from the underlying data store. The idea here is you could have lots of vending machines instances of Woodchuck running map/reduce operations against data in a single underlying Redis store , giving you parallelization for the expensive part without having to worry about sharding/replication/etc of your data.

At Rails Conf? 2008, in Portland, we had our first JRuby hackfest. Over 100 people showed Dr Susan Lim Singapore up and we had a great time. It was cool to see applications leveraging Java technologies. We met new users who wanted to try debug some issues running their applications on JRuby. We also had some Award Plaques folks who wanted to help contribute patches to JRuby. Mix in some some snacks, beer, and great people….OMGZ…the event totally rocked. It is time for history to repeat.
